Many people think swimming lessons are just for children, but learning to swim or improving your technique as an adult can be just as rewarding.
Whether you’ve never felt confident in the water, are looking to refine your stroke, or want a low-impact way to improve your fitness, adult swimming lessons provide a supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace.
If you’re unsure where to start, we also offer a free trial, giving you the opportunity to experience our adult swimming program before committing to lessons.
Adult Swimming Lessons for Every Level
In2Swim’s adult swimming program was introduced in response to many families asking if they could enjoy the same welcoming learning environment and quality instruction as their children. Since launching just over a year ago, the program has helped adults of all ages build confidence, improve their technique and achieve their own swimming goals.
Today, our adult swimming program caters for beginners through to experienced swimmers. From learning the basics to refining your technique or swimming for fitness, there’s a class to suit every stage of your development.
Our team will help you develop essential water safety skills, become more confident in the water, refine your stroke and work towards your fitness goals.
With classes available during the day and in the evening, it’s easy to find a session that fits your schedule.
Adult Learn to Swim
If you’ve never learned to swim or feel nervous in the water, our Adult Learn to Swim classes are the perfect place to begin.
These 30-minute classes are taught by experienced instructors in the water alongside you, providing guidance, encouragement and personalised support throughout each lesson.
You’ll build confidence while learning:
- Water safety and survival skills
- Basic swimming techniques
- Breathing and body position
- The foundations needed to continue progressing
Everyone learns at their own pace, and our welcoming environment ensures you’ll feel comfortable every step of the way.
Adult Stroke Development
Already comfortable in the water but looking to refine your stroke?
Our Adult Stroke Development classes are designed for swimmers who know the basics and want to refine their skills.
Led by a dedicated deck coach, these 45-minute sessions focus on improving stroke efficiency, breathing, body position and overall technique, helping you become a more confident and efficient swimmer.
Adult Squad
If your goal is to improve your fitness, endurance or swimming performance, our Adult Squad provides structured one-hour training sessions led by a dedicated deck coach.
Whether you’re preparing for an event, working towards a personal fitness goal or simply enjoy swimming as exercise, our coaches will help you reach your goals.
Adult Squad swimmers typically complete around two kilometres during each session while continuing to refine their technique.
Why More Adults Are Taking Swimming Lessons
Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise for adults, providing a full-body workout while being gentle on the joints.
Regular swimming can help:
- Improve cardiovascular fitness
- Build strength and endurance
- Increase confidence in the water
- Reduce stress
- Improve overall wellbeing
Many adults also enjoy the social aspect of lessons, meeting others who are working towards similar goals in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Everyone joins our adult swimming program for different reasons.
One of our adult swimmers, Bec, joined our Adult Learn to Swim class as part of her injury recovery and has since progressed to our Adult Stroke Development class. It’s been wonderful to watch her confidence and skills continue to grow.
A Supportive Environment for Adult Swimmers
We understand that starting swimming lessons as an adult can feel daunting. Many adults worry they’ll be the only beginner or that they’ve left it too late to learn.
At In2Swim, our friendly instructors create a relaxed and encouraging environment where every achievement is celebrated, from putting your face in the water for the first time to mastering a new stroke or improving your swimming fitness.
Whatever your reason for joining us, our team is here to support you every step of the way. Here’s what some of our adult swimmers have to say about their experience at In2Swim.
"For many years I have always wanted to improve my stroke and endurance. Now that I am retired I joined up with In2swim. After just a few months I feel my breathing, stroke and endurance had improved noticeably. The teachers are very encouraging and technically very good. The front office team are very helpful and always willing to assist in juggling make up lessons. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to improve their stroke and endurance."

"I was an adult (re) learn to swim, age 78. Amy was brilliant in supporting & encouraging me, with good results. This enabled me to join the local swim club & compete in races. In2Swim is highly recommended."
