In2Swim Intensive swimming lessons in action

How Intensive Swimming Lessons Help Children Progress Faster

Many parents look for ways to help their child feel more confident in the water or make progress with their swimming skills, particularly during the school holidays.

Intensive swimming lessons offer a focused way to fast-track skill development in a fun and supportive environment.

At In2Swim, our Intensive Program gives swimmers the opportunity to spend consistent time in the water, build confidence and continue progressing their skills throughout the program.

Why Intensive Swimming Lessons Work

Intensive swimming lessons provide children with the opportunity to attend lessons across consecutive days, rather than once a week.

This consistency allows swimmers to practise skills regularly and build on what they’ve learned each day. Without long gaps between lessons, children often become more familiar with movements, routines and the pool environment.

This consistent approach can help fast-track progress, giving swimmers the opportunity to practise and refine skills day after day.

Over the course of the program, many swimmers settle in quickly, become more engaged and feel more comfortable participating in activities. For some, it’s also a chance to revisit skills they’ve been working on and approach them with renewed confidence.

During the program, swimmers may also have the opportunity to work with different instructors, which can be a valuable part of the learning experience. Each instructor brings their own teaching style and perspective, helping reinforce skills in different ways while continuing to support each swimmer’s development.

For families, intensive programs offer a structured and active option during the school holidays while continuing to support their child’s swimming development.

What Happens in an In2Swim Intensive Program?

In2Swim Intensive Programs typically run over five consecutive days, with swimmers attending at the same time each day.

Lessons follow a structured format, with activities designed to support skill development through clear instruction and guided practice. Instructors provide ongoing encouragement and individual feedback to support each swimmer’s progress.

Lessons take place in our heated indoor pool, creating a warm and comfortable environment for swimmers throughout the program.

Class sizes remain small to ensure each swimmer receives the attention they need, and lessons are designed to suit a range of abilities.

In Spring and Summer, In2Swim also offer a Carnival Preparation Intensive Program, with a focus on getting students ready for their upcoming school swimming carnivals. Our Head Coach Renato explains the difference between the Intensive Programs to help you choose the right option for your child 👇

Who Are Intensive Programs Suitable For?

Intensive programs can benefit a wide range of swimmers.

They are a great option for:

  • Children who are new to swimming lessons
  • Swimmers building confidence in the water
  • Children working on developing or refining their technique
  • Swimmers preparing for squad or school carnivals
  • Families who would like to try In2Swim swim school for the first time

For many children, attending lessons over consecutive days can help them settle into the environment more quickly and feel more comfortable in the pool.

What Results Can Parents Expect?

Every child progresses at their own pace, however many families notice positive changes over the course of an intensive program.

These may include:

  • Improved confidence in the water
  • Increased familiarity with skills and routines
  • Greater willingness to participate in activities
  • Progress in technique and coordination

Just as importantly, children often enjoy the experience of attending lessons regularly and being part of a consistent routine.

Why Families Choose In2Swim Intensives

Families often choose our In2Swim Intensive Program because of the supportive and structured environment we provide.

Our experienced instructors focus on helping each swimmer feel comfortable while developing skills through clear instruction and encouragement. Lessons are designed to build on each child’s ability, with a consistent approach that supports both confidence and technique.

For swimmers already attending lessons, intensives can complement their weekly classes. For new families, it’s also a great opportunity to experience the In2Swim program.

"The intensive school holiday program has been such a massive asset to IN2SWIM. Sue's sessions are genuinely effective and fun, Jack actually looks forward to going, which as a parent is brilliant to see. The way the intensive program fast-tracks progress is really something special. We've now done it twice and we're already planning to come back every school holidays because we can see just how much it helps."

"So impressed with In2swim. We are new to the school, and just took part in the school holidays swim intensive program that runs through the week. Wow - what a noticeable and incredible difference it has made to our current skill level. We had fun too! So happy we made the move over and are in the right track with our swim goals! Highly recommend!"
